The Huskies travel up to Ferndale Washington where they play Western Washington University.
Tomorrow the Huskies travel up to Ferndale Washington where they play Western Washington University. It's a rivalry that goes back to early days of UW rugby. Western has been at the top of the conference most of the past 12 years, beating Boise 55-0 two weeks ago, and narrowly losing to Oregon last week, 15-17. Clearly rattled, the WWU write up blamed missing 3 key players, a narrow field, 38 penalties and 6 cards between the two teams.
We expect tomorrow will be different - no excuses. A few Huskies remain injured, however, that's nothing new. 46 healthy Dawgs, and 4 injured players in support will make the trip. Playing to the ref, adjusting play on different fields, and having no regrets or excuses coming off the field are all parts of the game, and points of discussion with our players.
We have a team ready to take on the challenge, with new pride putting on the Husky jersey and an understanding of what it means to all the men who've worn it in the past, and leaving it in a better place.
Tonight's film session and Captain's run will expose opportunities to exploit, and dial in our game strategy.
Come support at the DeWilde Rugby and Polo Grounds, Ferndale. First XV Kickoff at 12:00, and 2nd XV to follow.
